7 Healthy Food to Increase Immune System

The wide-spread of Corona virus or COVID-19 makes the number of cases continues to grow, including in Indonesia. Therefore, the government asked the people to do social distancing at home to prevent the transmission.

Despite being stay at home only, the body also needs strong immune system. People are encouraged to consume foods that contain vitamin C to enhance the immune system amid the corona virus outbreak.

Having a healthy body and not easily attacked by disease is everyone's dream. To avoid illness, it is important to keep the immune system well. There are only two ways to improve the immunity of the body, i.e. exercise and consume food that can improve immunity or endurance.

1. Garlic

Garlic may be one of the groceries that is widely encountered in almost all cuisine. In addition to its distinctive scent, garlic turns out to be known effective in combating various infections.

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative HealthTrusted Source, garlic can help lower blood pressure and slowing down the hardening of the blood vessels. In garlic, there is a content of sulfur compounds and allicin that can boost the immune system as well.

2. Spinach

Spinach is also a type of vegetable that is rich in vitamin. Moreover, spinach also contains many antioxidants and beta carotene that can improve the ability to fight the infection of our immune system.

3. Mushrooms

Mushrooms contribute to the multiplication of white blood cells, body cells that play a role in the immune system to help fight the disease. Mushrooms are also rich in zinc and are associated with some advantages for health.

4. Ginger

Ginger has a powerful antimicrobial ingredient. They are also rich in antioxidants and minerals. Ginger becomes a favorite food of men who want to improve the immune system.

5. Clam

There are not many people who thought clam is a food that can improve the immune system. Whereas some types of clam contain zinc that is beneficial for the body.

Zinc maybe is not as popular as vitamins and other minerals, but our bodies need zinc so that our immune cells can function properly. Other varieties of clam are high in zinc are mussels or scallops.

6. Berries

Foods that are rich in resveratrol, like peanuts, pistachios, grapes, blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, and even dark chocolate can be very helpful at combating fungal infections, ultraviolet radiation, stress, and injuries. This type of food also protects the body from virus attacks.

7. Almonds

If people want to avoid fever, vitamin E may not be as popular as vitamin C. In fact, vitamin E is one of nutrition that has main role for endurance. Vitamin E itself needs the help of fats to be absorbed optimally in the body. Nuts like almond contains healthy fats that are useful to it.
